Counselling offers a confidential space for you to explore any challenges you currently experience in your life. Sometimes the sense of a safe space and the possibility to voice what is going on can offer us some ease with the burdens we carry.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw resources from all main approaches in psychotherapeutic understanding: attachment theory, humanistic approaches, relational–analytic approaches and body psychotherapy.
However, what really matters is the therapeutic relationship. This can offer new ways of experiencing feelings and emotions fully, unravelling familiar thought patterns, or relating to bodily sensations with openness and curiosity, all taking place in a confidential, safe and supportive environment.
My counselling work is informed by mindfulness-based practices that are shown to be effective in developing the skills to live well with chronic pain, for example.
Training, qualifications and experience
I trained at the Minster Centre and gained their Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
I keep developing my counselling skills by regularly attending workshops, conferences and discussion groups.
I grew up in Finland. Before training as a counsellor, I worked as an academic researcher and a university teacher.
I know what the pressures of a competitive work environment feel like, and how relocation to a foreign country affects one’s life.
I have several years of personal experience of finding counselling helpful to live through major changes in life.
I am registered with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
Code of ethics
I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions.
