My approach

I am an integrative counsellor and the approaches I use allow me to tailor therapeutic work around the client’s individual needs. Most importantly, I value the therapeutic relationship as central to building trust and helping clients to reach their goals.

I am able to offer short and long-term therapy sessions depending on the client’s emotional needs. I have worked with adults struggling with various issues, young people in care as well as in secondary schools. I have experience working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) as well as variety of mental health or emotional difficulties.

I am aware of the difficulty in making the decision to seek counselling and how overwhelming the process of finding the right counsellor can be. It can be a lonely journey when you are feeling overwhelmed. Counselling provides clients with the opportunity of having someone to explore and help to make sense of their emotions and thoughts as well as learn healthy tools to feel emotionally regulated.

I have an interest in researching the impact of shame on self-concept as many clients I have worked with have identified shame as an obstacle to making changes. When we struggle with low self-concept and shame, we may become stuck due to fear of being exposed (vulnerability). If this is not explored and its roots not understood, then it could manifest into other emotional issues such as anxiety and depression.
