Hello. My name is Gita and I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist having consulting rooms in Euston (WC1) and in the City (EC2).

I’m passionate about helping you to free yourself from negative behavioral patterns that have taken hold, leaving you feeling stuck, confused and anxious. In therapy with me, we will create a non-judgemental and also creative space for us to explore these patterns and feelings and help you to develop an understanding of yourself, to be able to grow emotionally and begin to have a healthy balance life. Nothing is more exhausting than battling with overwhelming feelings everyday and not knowing what to do with them.

How I can help

I love what I do and I can help you in this path. There are times in life when we become anxious, eat a lot, shop a lot, succumb to all sorts of addictions, get locked in depression and negative behaviours in our work, relationships and life in general, not knowing the reason behind them. We become physically and emotionally helpless and agitated. That is because we have no idea where these feelings and actions are coming from and are not able to ‘think’ about them. Some of these thoughts and feelings can be unconscious with possible roots in our past experiences and relationships.

In the sessions with me, I will help you to become curious about your feelings, thoughts, actions and these possible roots. Every session, you can bring anything that you like and we will work together to understand them and ‘think’ about your difficult feelings and unravel these puzzling roots.

After a while, you’ll find yourself being able to think about these intense thoughts and feelings on your own instead of becoming overwhelmed by them or acting them out. This can be a great experience for you and I assure you that you will be thrilled by this achievement.

Step by step you will be able to use this tool of thinking at your work, relationship and personal life, and build a secure self to rely on at times of anxiety and stress. I will help you to feel more in control and also okay to ‘let go’ and you will find yourself better able to cope with matters that are beyond your control.

I’m also fully aware that in choosing me to help you, you’re placing your emotional and mental wellbeing into my care. That’s a huge responsibility and one I take very seriously. Confidentiality and trust are essential in my work with my clients.

I offer flexible treatment: you can choose open-ended sessions that continue for as long or short a time as is necessary to resolve the issues you’re dealing with. Or you can opt for short-term therapy which can last anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks, which is more goal oriented.

Training and qualifications

  • I trained at WPF, one of the leading training centres for psychotherapists in the country and continued working with people from diverse range of backgrounds and different psychological distress at this institute for a while
  • I hold a postgraduate diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice from Roehampton University
  • I also have a BSc in Psychology and have done a great deal of research on human behaviour and mental health

Past experience

I have experience in working with a diverse range of people in the voluntary sectors, the NHS and in private practice. This has provided me with the opportunity of working with people from different backgrounds and with different psychological distress such as depression, chronic fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks, addiction, sexual abuse, trauma, grief and bereavement.

I currently work as a counsellor and therapist in private practice at Bank in City of London and at Euston. I also work for NHS Homerton Hospital as a psychotherapist.

I have also volunteered for the Samaritans providing emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts.

Fees

I charge £70 for Euston WC1 and £80 for Bank EC2. I offer some lower fees for afternoon hours.
