Firstly, I can understand how frightening it can feel to approach someone for therapy, especially as it can be assumed that you are already feeling vulnerable.
Together, we will explore the specific problem you experience and look at your life generally in terms of your needs and resources. I will listen without judgement and check that you have been understood in terms of what the problem is. No problem is too big or too small.
We then clarify what you see as your goal – which is usually for the problem to be gone. It’s important to know that therapy sessions progress at your pace.
There are a variety of strategies that I use to help you resolve the problem quickly. For example, trauma, PTSD and phobias can often be treated very quickly with a technique called ‘rewind’.
Similarly, other problems such as anxiety, depression and OCD can be easily treated using a combination of strategies related to CBT, brief solution therapy and behavioural tasks.
I always include deep relaxation and guided imagery as part of treatment, which is a very powerful way to ensure that the positive changes you want to see happen do happen in the real world.
My priority is that you can recover swiftly using the proven and effective solution-focused techniques of Human Givens therapy.
You can expect the sessions to be very enlightening, relaxing and uplifting. You can also expect to feel much better from the very first session. In fact, some clients have only needed a couple of sessions for their problem to be resolved.
