I offer a calm, peaceful and confidential space where people can explore their difficulties within a supportive and understanding professional relationship
The cornerstone of my therapeutic work is to help people become fully present in the here and now, free from dysfunctional roles, psychological distortions and trauma. To help clients understand themselves and their environment I use a variety of modalities including existential enquiry, CAT and mindfulness.
Together we will consider your life and how you experience it with the aim of understanding aspects of your struggles and issues.
The way I work is jargon-free, flexible, warm and down to earth. My aim is to recognise the experience of each individual and to treat you with respect and integrity.
I work in a way, which facilitates enables or encourages honest conversation and the realisation that we all have a choice, no matter how constraining circumstances might seem.
My role is to help you build an inspiring and personal toolkit to help you examine your choices and have the difficult conversations you didn’t think possible.
Starting therapy and the process of choosing a therapist is not always easy so please feel free to give me a call to discuss any issues or ask questions about me or how I work at any time.
Life crises and problems
A life crisis can appear at any time and in various forms in any person’s life.
Most of us feel ‘lost’ or experience ‘crises’. These manifests as problems which we then describe as: addiction, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship or family issues, career or life stage issues (e.g. changing direction, mid-life, childlessness, illness or retirement), low self-esteem, abuse, trauma, anger management and bereavement.
When this happens we can benefit by a healing relationship to examine how we feel, where we would like to be, and to help us make choices to live the life we want to live, not the life we feel we should live.
Couple counselling can facilitate growth, ease stress and alleviate conflict. Very often, it is helpful when one or both of you are feeling misunderstood or isolated, or when you identify negative and destructive patterns. Couple counselling otherwise referred to as relationship counselling or, marriage counselling is an opportunity to air hurt and concerning feelings in a safe, private and controlled setting. I will work with you to find new, more positive, ways of relating to one another.
I provide a warm, supportive and non-judgmental environment. Couple counselling sessions have no agenda; I am not there to tell you what to do or to manipulate you into staying together. Together we can facilitate you in finding your own way forward; for some couples this will mean finding a more creative and positive future for the relationship, while for others it may mean helping you to accept and manage the end of a relationship.
