I am a BACP-registered counsellor who works with young people and adults from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
With the person-centred approach the key element is the relationship between the client and counsellor. When the client experiences an environment that is safe and without judgement – one where they are understood and feel the counsellor is genuine and real – then this allows them to find their own answers and to fulfil their own innate potential.
My role as the counsellor is to provide this environment, to give my clients the space to explore their issues and to trust their process. The client may choose to focus on the past, present or future, as I believe where they choose to go is the right direction for them.
Training, qualifications and experience
I trained at Lewisham Counselling and Counsellor Training Associates, which is accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a Diploma in Counselling.
My previous career in supply-chain management and IT meant I worked with people from across the world. This gave me a great deal of experience working cross-culturally. It was in fact the people I worked with and their different experiences that brought me into counselling training.
In addition to my private practice, I also work with young people as a school counsellor in Greenwich.
I am a registered member of the BACP.
I receive regular supervision and undertake continued professional development to ensure the quality of my work.
