My approach
I aim to offer a safe, collaborative space where you feel able to bring what is troubling you.
In our first session we will explore what brings you to therapy and what you are hoping to get out of the sessions. It is a good opportunity to see whether I am the right fit for you. I believe that finding someone who you feel will be able to support you towards the change you desire is an important part of the journey.
I work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, as like any relationship, it can take time to develop safety and trust. Sessions with me are client led, which means that you decide where the session goes and what you would like to talk about. In this collaborative way we can agree on what may be supportive for you.
You might be stuck in familiar patterns or experiencing a block to the way you would like to feel, and you might not be sure of what is holding you back. Sometimes life experiences can shape the way we view ourselves and experience the world around us.
I believe that a relationship where you can feel accepted and understood can start to challenge previous experiences or self-limiting beliefs and offer a more fertile place to make the changes you want.
You can expect me to offer a commitment to understanding the difficulties you are experiencing and how you see them, and I aim to offer support that is tailored to you and what you need. This might include supporting you to become more aware of your feelings, slowing down to become more regulated or experimenting with being different in some way. I will sit with you in difficult feelings, and you can expect a genuine, honest and empathic response from me.
