My approach

We all have the potential to grow and lead fulfilling lives. At times, though, we can feel sad, anxious, stuck or simply overwhelmed – this may be because of past experiences, current challenges or both. It’s normal to struggle without always understanding why, and our focus will be to help you explore your feelings, understand the obstacles in your way, and find ways to navigate them safely. My work is trauma informed.

For LGBTQIA+ clients, I’m especially aware of the unique struggles that can come from facing discrimination, rejection or social isolation. My aim is to help you build resilience, find self-acceptance and live fully from your authenticity.

Additionally, my approach is informed by cultural sensitivity, recognising the diverse backgrounds and lived experiences that shape each of us. I’m committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment where all aspects of your identity are respected and explored in a way that feels comfortable for you.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation on the phone where we will briefly discuss your needs and arrange an initial session. Our first meeting is for you to tell me what is troubling you and discuss your hopes for therapy – it is also an opportunity to see how we feel working together.

Depending on what you would like to address we can discuss short-term treatment (6 to 12 sessions) or alternatively more open-ended, deeper exploration. Once terms are agreed, we can begin working; sessions are 50 minutes per week (though we can discuss frequency of sessions and adapt as necessary).

Training, qualifications and experience

Between 2007 and 2020, I spent 12 years living as a Buddhist nun in monastic communities in the UK and US. I draw from this experience of deep inner work and mindfulness to support clients ready to move through pain and grow towards a more meaningful life.

I continue to engage in ongoing areas of continued professional development with a particular commitment to understanding and working with the impacts of trauma.

I have experience working in the NHS and the charity sector as well as in private practice.
