My approach

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Whatever your reasons, I provide a receptive and thoughtful space for exploring your inner world.

I work with a psychodynamic therapeutic approach. This approach focuses fundamentally on developing self-awareness and understanding.

It is an approach that looks to go beyond the surface of things, exploring the hidden layers of the mind, which often hold the clues to understanding our present difficulties. By exploring more deeply, we can expand our sense of self. By getting to the root of things, we can effect meaningful change.

This approach is effective for a broad range of issues such as anxiety and depression. It can also help with more diffuse life concerns such as a loss of purpose or feeling stuck.

In a way, psychodynamic psychotherapy is an art of sense-making. Working together, we can begin to make sense of feelings or behaviours in your life that you find perplexing. This might involve trying to understand painful patterns in your life, such as repeated relationship struggles or frequent experiences of inhibiting anxiety. Often, illumination comes from the past. Thus, we take an interest in how the present is shaped, often in ways beyond our awareness, by experiences in the past.

My approach is not prescriptive; you will have the freedom to explore what matters most to you. I bring an openness to your unique individuality.

We all have a story we tell about our own lives. It is a great privilege to work together to understand yours better. As we delve deeper, the hope is for us to enrich your self-narrative, enable a fuller self-experience and, ultimately, a more meaningful life.
