Everyone can benefit from counselling. There are times when we could all do with reflecting on our lives to take stock of whether we’re achieving our hopes and dreams, and how well we’re doing in our relationships and communities. This is particularly true at times of change and crisis: losing a job, moving home, ending a relationship, being a parent to an ever-changing child, losing a loved one, coping with illness. The stuff of life…
As a counsellor, I am here to work with you in this process of reflection. The aim is for you to grow in self-knowledge, to be more in touch with your thoughts and feelings, and more in control of your actions. I offer a balance of support and challenge to help you realise the best of who you are.
Training, qualifications and experience
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling from CPPD (UK), a training institution accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
In addition to this 3-year training, I have done additional training in:
- cognitive behavioural therapy (at the Awareness Centre, London)
- couples counselling (at the Tavistock)
- bereavement counselling (with the South London Association of Bereavement Services)
From 2012–16, I was in private practice in Tokyo. I was also an employee assistance programme provider of mental health services to Peacemind JEAP and Workplace Options, and provided counselling services to international schools in Tokyo.
Before that I worked (in the UK) for the Orpington and Farnborough Counselling Service, offering time-limited therapy to a range of NHS clients referred by their GPs. I also worked for Lewisham Bereavement Counselling, and with young people in a range of London schools.
I have given workshops on a variety of psychological issues to business people, university students, teachers and pupils.
I am a fully accredited member of the BACP.
